How can I even begin to explain the object or the “Who” of our worship? He is more than words, He goes beyond time or any human comprehension. The Scriptures state, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty” (Revelation 1:8). He is so much more than we could ever imagine.
Our God actually put time into motion: Then God said, “Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years” (Gen. 1:14).
Look up at night, when the sky is clear and the stars are shining bright.
This God we draw near to spoke ALL that you see into existence:
Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light….Then God said, “Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth.” And that is what happened….Then God said, “Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear”….Then God said, “Let the land sprout with vegetation”… And that is what happened….Then God said, “Let the earth produce every sort of animal”…And that is what happened….Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us” (found in Genesis 1). The list goes on and on. I am getting so lost in Him already!
By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth (Psalm 33:6). God is a star-breather! WOW!
The God who made the universe and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth. He doesn’t live in shrines made by humans (Acts 17:24).
In these last days he has spoken to us through his Son. God made his Son responsible for everything. His Son is the one through whom God made the universe (Hebrews 1:2).
The Holy Bible is riddled with references of what God has done. Part of what He has done is part of WHO He is. To truly begin to worship from our hearts, we HAVE to seek out what and Who our faith, through the Holy Scriptures, say He is. For Worship to be “Worship,” the object MUST be our obsession, the very thing that consumes us! It is not done any other way. Are you consumed about knowing your God? Are there other distractions hindering that relationship?
Well, we’ve only scratched the surface this week. Next week learn a little more about God and Worship. I want to invite you to join us at Vantage Pointe in the continual seeking of the “Almighty.”
