One of my favorite song writers and worship leaders is Paul Baloche. He has such a genuine demeanor about him. When he speaks about music, leading worship or just about life, he seems so transparent, so real. That, to me, is refreshing. Now I know Paul through my passion for leading worship. I love the intimate words and lyrics he uses to help me and many others to connect with our Creator, God. I have purchased several of his CD’s and watched many You Tube videos he has made that teach how to play his songs. I’ve gone to one of his seminars and been taught, along with the multitude of others there that appreciate Paul’s dedication to his passion and calling. You know what? I’ve even spoken to Paul on the phone before, but I am pretty certain he wouldn’t remember me. Why wouldn’t he remember me? I mean hey, I know who he is, right? I spoke with him one short time. Isn’t that enough for us to be friends?
Well, I know everyone of you reading this has had acquaintances, but the difference between those people and someone who you would call a friend is the fact that you know them on a personal level. You have shared experiences together. You know exclusive details about your friend’s life, because you have lived it together. You talk on a regular basis. You laugh with each other. You cry on one another’s shoulders.
Many people, and maybe even you, may know about Jesus Christ and about His teachings, may have heard sermons about Him, may have even taken some classes or been to a seminar to “learn” more about Him, but do they, do you, “know” Him? I saw on FaceBook the other week a post that said, “Knowing the Bible is one thing; knowing the Author is another.” Personal relationships are what Jesus is about. Look at all the people He came in contact with. He knew their personal life, and He invites you to know Him in a similar way.
Do you have that relationship with our God? Do you you want to know Him more? You can. It all starts by accepting that invitation of Jesus into your life and ultimately into your heart.
If you declare that Jesus is Lord, and believe that God brought him back to life, you will be saved. By believing you receive God’s approval, and by declaring your faith you are saved.
(Romans 10:9-10 GWT)
And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” (Galatians 4:6 NLT)
