Call to Worship – Benefits of Knowing God

Posted on Friday, January 18th, 2013 by Monty Ader

We’ve talk about giving or making time for God. We’ve talked about having that personal relationship with God (the getting to know Him part) and now I’d like to discuss some amazing benefits that come from making time for Him to have that relationship.

We Can Have Purpose in Life
Jeremiah 29:11
New International Version (NIV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future

Philippians 1:6
New International Version (NIV)
6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

We Can Live Forever in Peace
John 17:3
New Living Translation (NLT)
3 And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.

Revelation 5:3-5
New International Version (NIV)
3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’[b] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

These two benefits are just the beginning of the riches that come from knowing God and His son Jesus Christ. The incentive is for us to dig into our Bibles and take the time for prayer (conversation with God) so that He speaks to our hearts on an individual, personal level; then when Jesus does reveal Himself, the proof of the Invisible God is manifest in our lives in a way that could not be explained by anyone else. To know God we must diligently seek Him, searching for God and the wisdom that comes from Him like a hidden treasure, then we reap the true benefits from His Kingdom and for His Kingdom.

Proverbs 2:1-11
1 My child,[a] listen to what I say, and treasure my commands.
2 Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding.
3 Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding.
4 Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures.
5 Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God.
6 For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7 He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.
8 He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him.
9 Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will find the right way to go.
10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy.
11 Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe.

What has God taught you in these last few weeks at Vantage Pointe? Don’t keep them to yourself, tell the world, they are just waiting to meet Him?
