We are on our way to see God, our loving Father, face to face and to spend eternity with Him in Heaven. Along this journey, we will come to some places where we will stand in awe of the beauty of seeing our faith lived out (scenic outlooks). Maybe in other instances, we’ll run into unforeseen circumstances, like rough weather (testing of our faith), a flat tire (unexpected death or someone close facing cancer), running out of gas (burning out) or getting lost (losing track of God’s plan for our lives).
The letter that James wrote in the New Testament explains that rough roads and circumstances will come our way and that we should not be surprised by them but know they are necessary to help make us strong and mature in our walk with Christ. (James 1:2-4, https://www.youversion.com/bible/111/jas.1.2-4.niv).
Paul tells us to keep our eyes focused on the cross and even more about the great miracle that comes from believing why Jesus had to suffer the cross: our resurrection from death to true life!
Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory. (Colossians 3:1-4, https://www.youversion.com/bible/116/col.3.1-4.nlt).
