We call it NASA. The letters stand for words we seldom hear in daily life: National Aeronautics and Space Administration. NASA’s vision has inspired tens of thousands of school kids as they’ve stared up into the night skies: To reach for new heights and reveal the unknown so that what we do and learn will benefit all humankind.
NASA is about launching rockets and ascending into the heavens to reveal what we can only dream might be “out there” beyond the bond of earth. And their mission to “benefit all humankind” is admirable and worthy of imitation.
I resonate with NASA’s mission because it’s similar to my desire (and belief) about the new church we’re launching. Vantage Pointe is a church that has been all about “reaching for new heights” since we held our very first meeting on July 10, 2011. While the gravity of problems and challenges has attempted to keep us anchored to earth, we’ve exerted incredible energy and expressed our best creativity to transcend our moorings to reveal that which seems to be “unknown” to most of humanity – God. And we pray that what we’ve learned will benefit the men and their families and friends who live in the Glens Falls region.
This will be an exciting month as we apply what we’ve learned to date and implement new ways to communicate who God is and what Christ means to us. The theme of this series of Sundays is “New!”: a new church, mission and vision and new people to experience with us the amazing hope we’ve found through our growing relationship with Jesus Christ. I invite you to enjoy each Sunday between now and Easter and get in on something that can literally change your life forever.
This is our lift off moment and we invite you to travel with us!
